Best Da Nang and Hoi An Hotel Areas for Golf

My Khe beach

My Khe provides the best overall balance. It is close to the airport and central dining, with direct road access south to Montgomerie, Legend, Hoiana and Vinpearl. Ba Na remains a manageable westbound journey. This base suits first-time groups playing four or five courses.

Non Nuoc and the southern resort strip

Non Nuoc is the most efficient base for Montgomerie and Legend. Some resorts are only 10 to 20 minutes from both properties. The location also reduces the southern journey to Hoi An courses. The trade-off is a longer drive to central Da Nang restaurants and Ba Na Hills.

Hoi An Old Town and nearby resorts

Hoi An is the right base when evenings, dining and non-golfer activities matter as much as minimum drive time. Hoiana and Vinpearl become easy trips, while Montgomerie and Legend remain reasonable. Ba Na and Laguna are the two long days. An Bang and coastal Hoi An resorts can differ by 10 to 20 minutes from an Old Town hotel, so use the specific address.

Lăng Cô

A Lăng Cô resort stay makes Laguna a low-logistics round and gives the group time to use the facilities. It is less efficient for repeated golf south of Da Nang. In a seven-night itinerary, one or two nights in Lăng Cô can work. In a five-night trip, one Da Nang base is normally simpler.

Course-by-Course Route Considerations

Montgomerie Links and Legend Danang are on the coastal route between Da Nang and Hoi An. Their proximity makes either one a logical first round after arrival, and it is possible to move between the two properties for a planned 36-hole day. That schedule is demanding and should use confirmed early and afternoon tee times, not an assumption that the second course will accept a late arrival.

Ba Na Hills is west of the main hotel areas. The route does not combine naturally with Hoi An sightseeing, but it can pair with an airport movement because the airport is on the western side of central Da Nang. Floodlit golf changes the return timing, so the driver must be booked through the evening rather than treated as a standard daytime round trip.

Hoiana Shores and Vinpearl Nam Hoi An are both south, but they are separate golf operations with different entrances. Golfers based in Hoi An save meaningful travel time. A Da Nang group can combine either course with Hoi An dinner after a morning round, provided showers and restaurant timing are planned.

Laguna Lăng Cô requires the most schedule respect. The route north is attractive, but it can slow in poor weather or busy periods. The club advises that later tee times may not finish before darkness during parts of the year. Use a morning or early midday start and avoid fixing an immediate dinner back in Hoi An.

How to Work Backwards from a Tee Time

Start with the confirmed tee time and subtract 45 minutes for clubhouse arrival. Then subtract the upper end of the normal drive range. Finally, subtract 10 to 15 minutes for group loading. An 8:30 am tee time at Ba Na Hills from My Khe uses a 7:40 am clubhouse-arrival target, a 50-minute drive allowance and a 10-minute load. The group lobby time is therefore about 6:40 am.

For four golfers travelling light, five minutes of loading may be sufficient. For 16 golfers, one captain should complete a bag and passenger count before departure. Putters and small carry bags are easily left behind when multiple vehicles are used.

Arriving early is not lost time. Players can change, register, meet caddies, stretch and test the greens. Arriving exactly at the official tee time risks losing the slot or starting without preparation, particularly when several consecutive groups are booked.

Private Vehicles, Taxis and Golf-Bag Capacity

Seat count is not luggage capacity. Four adults may fit into a normal car, but four hard travel cases or full golf covers often do not. The vehicle plan should include the number of golfers, non-golfers, golf bags, suitcases and any mobility needs.

Montgomerie and Legend are the best candidates for arrival-day golf because they are relatively close to Da Nang airport and most beach hotels. Even then, allow for immigration, baggage delivery, club collection and traffic. A scheduled international arrival at 9:00 am does not make an 11:00 am tee time reliable.

For departure day, work backwards from airport check-in, not flight departure. Add the course-to-airport transfer, post-round shower and loading time, plus a margin for a slow field or weather. Ba Na can suit a late flight, while Hoiana and Laguna require more travel margin.

When the flight is important and alternatives are limited, keep departure day free of 18-hole golf. A short practice session, lunch or spa visit provides value without putting the flight behind an unpredictable finish time.

Group nearby courses on consecutive days without trying to play them on the same day. From My Khe, Montgomerie and Legend work early in the week, Hoiana or Vinpearl can pair with a Hoi An evening, and Ba Na creates a separate mountain day. Laguna fits best after a rest day or with an overnight resort stay.
