Rainy Day in Da Nang: What Golf Groups Can Do
Central Vietnam has a proper wet season, and now and then a round gets washed out. When it does, Da Nang has more than enough to fill the day. Here is what to do, and when the rain is most likely.
When it rains
Da Nang's rainy season generally runs from September to December, with October and November the wettest months. Rain then can be heavy, and low-lying areas sometimes flood. The rest of the year is mostly dry, with short tropical showers in the warmer months. Our best time to play guide covers the seasons in more detail.
Museums and culture
The Museum of Cham Sculpture on the Han River holds around 300 sandstone and terracotta pieces from the Cham civilisation. It is compact, air-conditioned in parts and well worth an hour or two. The Da Nang Fine Arts Museum on Le Duan Street and the brightly decorated Cao Dai temple are other easy indoor stops.
Marble Mountains
The caves and grottoes inside the Marble Mountains, between Da Nang and Hoi An, are mostly sheltered, which makes them a good wet-weather choice. Take care on the steps, which are slippery when wet.
Spa, markets and food
- A long massage is the obvious answer. Prices range from simple local shops to full resort spas; see our spa and wellness guide.
- Han Market and Con Market are covered, busy and full of food stalls.
- A long lunch in Hoi An, or a cooking class, fills an afternoon well.
- The malls in the city centre have food courts and cinemas for a lazy afternoon.
If a round is rained out
If rain threatens a round, talk to our team. Each course has its own rain policy, and we will explain what applies to your booking.
Common questions
Should we avoid central Vietnam from September to December?
Not necessarily. Many days in early autumn and December are fine, and the courses are quieter. Build in a spare day and keep plans flexible.
