Family Golf Holidays in Vietnam

Vietnam is quietly one of Asia's best family golf destinations: safe, inexpensive, endlessly entertaining for children, and full of courses happy to welcome young golfers beside their parents. The trick is choosing resorts where the family day and the golf day overlap rather than compete.

Why Vietnam works for families

The arithmetic is compelling. Family rooms and interconnecting suites cost a fraction of Western resort prices, eating out with children is easy and cheap, and the country's big attractions: cable cars, water parks, beaches, lantern towns: are exactly what children remember. Vietnamese culture dotes on children; waiters will carry your toddler, caddies will cheer a junior's first par, and nowhere feels unsafe after dark. Direct flights and minimal time difference spare the family the two-day wreckage of longer hauls.

Where to base

  • Da Nang: the beach strip's big pools, the Ba Na Hills cable car and Fantasy Park for a rest day, and courses used to visiting families.
  • Hoi An: old-town wandering that suits all ages, plus beach time at An Bang; tailoring shops will copy a favourite kids' outfit in a day.
  • Nha Trang and Hon Tre island: Vinpearl's resort island combines the golf course with a water park and amusement park over the road: the single easiest family-golf base in the country.
  • Hanoi: for older children, the capital's history, water puppet theatre and street food add an educational spine to a northern golf loop.

Junior golfers

Vietnamese clubs welcome juniors warmly, and the caddie system is a gift for family rounds: your child's caddie keeps pace, finds balls and encourages: ask us to request patient, kid-friendly caddies when we book. If the children are learning, we can arrange lessons with our coaching team around your rounds; a parent-and-child nine holes at a quiet resort course is a genuinely good morning. Teenagers playing off real handicaps will find the forward tees properly set up, and the championship layouts provide all the examination they want.

A rhythm that works

One parent golfs while the other leads the morning adventure; swap the next day. Alternate with one full family day every three: the Ba Na Hills cable car, a cooking class, a basket-boat river ride. Early tee times mean the golfer never misses lunch, and the evenings stay shared: beach seafood, the Dragon Bridge fireworks on weekends, a cyclo ride through the old town.

Practical notes for families

  • Request interconnecting rooms or suites when we book; family configurations sell first in school holidays.
  • Bring familiar snacks and any medications; Vietnamese pharmacies are good but brands differ.
  • Sun protection is non-negotiable for children: hats, rash vests and shade breaks between 11 and 2.
  • Domestic flights are short and cheap; split the trip between two bases rather than one long stay.

Common questions

What age works for a family golf trip?

Any age for the destination: the country carries it. For children actually playing, eight or nine upwards tends to stick; younger children ride along happily with a parent and caddie.

Can we get babysitting or kids' clubs?

The international resorts run kids' clubs and can arrange in-room babysitting with notice: tell us your dates and we confirm the current programs when we book.

Getting there and moving around

Fly into Da Nang for a central-coast trip: the airport sits between the beach strip and the city, and most resort transfers take under half an hour. Domestic hops: Da Nang to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, or down to Cam Ranh for Nha Trang: run about an hour and cost little, so splitting a trip between two bases never feels arduous. With children, we use private cars with seat belts and age-appropriate seats arranged in advance; with clubs, the extra vehicle space matters, and we book vehicles accordingly.

Food with children

Vietnamese food travels well to young palates: rice, noodles, grilled meats and fresh fruit form a backbone most children accept happily, and the resort hotels run breakfast buffets with western options. Eating early suits the local rhythm: restaurants fill by seven and many kitchens slow by nine: which conveniently matches children's hours. Ice and drinking water at reputable venues are safe; we steer groups to the right places on our food walks.

Budgeting a family golf trip

Families are Vietnam's best value equation: rooms for four cost little more than rooms for two, junior green fees are modest or waived at many courses, and a full restaurant meal for the family rarely reaches the price of one Australian main. The premium line items are flights in school holidays and the international-resort stays: book both early. A two-centre, ten-night family trip with four or five rounds prices well below almost any competing destination, and our written quote fixes it before you commit.

Check before travelling: resort facilities, kids' programs and spa services change with the seasons. Confirm current details when you book.
